  • EV Fleet

    The Division of Facilities, Operations and Planning on the Coral Gables campus, following the implementation of its Sustainable Operation Plan for 2035 has started transitioning to an electric fleet!

    • The Division of FOP on the Coral Gables campus, following the implementation of its Sustainable Operation Plan for 2035 has started transitioning to an electric fleet with the addition of a total of 5 new electric vehicles only for this year!

    • Our Facilities and Operations department added 3 Chevy Bolt 2023 to the recent acquisition of 2 similar vehicles by the Office of Parking & Transportation.

    • Facilities and Operations is leading the way with the procurement of the first Electric Transit Connect van at UM!

    • As a reminder, the Coral Gables campus is now equipped with 18 Level 2 charging stations distributed as follow: 6 at the Levante Garage; 4 at the Mahoney Pearson Garage; 4 at the Albenga Garage; 2 at the Allen hall building; 2 at the Cox Annex building.
      Any EV driver can charge at these locations, at no cost, for a maximum of 4 hours while actively charging, no matter the color zone parking permit they have.
      Please note: a parking permit is required, including for visitors.

     

    • UMPD is also transitioning to alternative mobility with the first Hybrids in their fleet. The Athletics department has also turned to Electric with 5 new LifePO4 Evolution carts.

  • Mobility Survey



    TAKE THE MOBILITY SURVEY


    Each year, the Office of Sustainability distributes a survey to all UM students, faculty, and staff to gather information on commuting practices. This year, we are also partnering directly with Parking & Transportation and Campus Planning & Development. The information collected from this survey will be used to determine the future direction of alternative mobility here at the U. 

    Complete this short survey on your commuting practices. The most original answers to the open question will receive this Green U gift basket.

  • Bike Friendly University

    UM Earns Designation as a Bike Friendly University

    The University of Miami is among 51 universities recently recognized by the League of American Bicyclists as a Bicycle Friendly University. With its BFU bronze award, which cited UM’s high bike registration, BikeSafe curriculum; UBike Committee; Bike Expo and Safety Fair; and involvement in Gables Bike Day, the Dolphins Cancer Challenge, and the DCC Fall Family Fest, UM joins 164 universities in 44 states and Washington, D.C., that have been designated as BFUs over the past
