Arbor Day Celebration

April 19 at 5 pm

The University has been recognized as a Tree Campus USA by the nationally renown organization Arbor Day Foundation for the ninth time in a row. The program will start on April 19 at 5 pm with a tour of the Gifford Arboretum, a tasting stop at the sustainability garden. At 6 pm, at the Arboretum Stone Circle, after our land acknowledgement, don't miss the free concert from Frost School of Music artist Jasmine Harris and her band, and pass by the Gen CLEO table for planting giveaways.
Finger food will be served. Event sponsored by the Gifford Arboretum.

EARTH DAY FAIR - HUG THE LAKE

On April 21 from 10.30 a.m.-2 p.m., pass by the Lakeside Patio, grab a delicious vegan empanada, and learn about the great work ECO and community partners are doing to lessen our carbon footprint. The ECO Agency will be there, so don't forget to get your ECO giveaway and FREE food truck voucher!

Hug The Lake

Join us on April 21 from 12:05-12:20 p.m., on Earth Day at the Lakeside Stage for our traditional Hug The Lake event and Roberta "Bosey" Fulbright Foote award ceremony to honor a member of the UM community—faculty, staff, student, or trustee—who has made a meaningful and lasting contribution to the beauty, humanity, and future of the campus.

CORAL GABLES RECYCLING DRIVE-THRU

Take part in the Coral Gables Recycling Drive-Thru on Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. to drop off your old 14-gallon recycling bins, recycle your old electronics and large cardboard boxes, dispose of your household hazardous waste, shred your sensitive documents, and donate your "lightly/gently used" clothing. MANGROVE CLEAN UP with the ROSENSTIEL SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE

Earth Day is coming up, so let's give back by participating in a mangrove cleanup!

The Sustainability Initiative is hosting a mangrove cleanup with Shake a Leg Kayaks Saturday, April 22^nd from 8:30am-11am at Dinner Key located in Coconut Grove. This cleanup will take place both in water and on land. Shake a Leg Kayaks is providing 10 double kayaks, first come first serve. If you have your own kayak or paddleboard, we highly encourage you to bring it for the cleanup.

When: Saturday, April 22^nd 8:30am
Where: 2620 S Bayshore Dr
Coconut Grove FL

-> meet at the back of the parking lot by the water and the sailing mast.

We will provide gloves and bags for the cleanup. Please bring sun protection and reusable water bottles.

If you are interested in participating, you will need to sign a waiver prior to the cleanup (waiver will be provided on site). We hope to see you there!

- Saturday, April 1st - Day in the Dirt Volunteer planting 9 AM - 11 AM
  - Help beautify The Underline with a morning of planting and garden maintenance
- Saturday, April 15th, Family Day 2 PM - 4 PM
  - Art, music, and community activities focusing on sustainability, earth care, and love of the outdoors
- Saturday, April 22nd, Earth Day
  - In-Person Yoga 9 AM - 10 AM - Yoga session with a meditation focused on healing the planet.
  - Volunteer Appreciation Event 11 AM - 1 PM - Thanking volunteers for their commitment and stewardship at The Underline as we work to celebrate multimodal transit and the importance of a relationship with the outdoors. Volunteers will receive a plant as token of appreciation
- Sunday April 30th: City Nature Challenge: Citizen science competition to collect the most beautiful images of native flora and fauna.
