From April 13th - 16th, ECO Agency's Education Committee will be hosting a scavenger hunt, where students can follow clues posted on ECO Agency's Instagram each day to identify and learn about UM's recycling, compost, nature conservation, solar panel, sustainable food and garden, and sustainable transportation programs using the Green Map. The scavenger hunt will conclude at the Arbor Day Celebration, on April 16th, where prizes will be awarded to those who completed the hunt!
The University has been recognized, for the 12th consecutive year, as a Tree Campus USA by the nationally renown Arbor Day Foundation! The program will start on April 16 at 5 pm with Feeling the Trees - A Sensory Journey through the Gifford Arboretum (a 45-minute tour exploring the sensations that trees evoke in us. Using our senses—sight, touch, smell, and sound—to reflect on how trees shape our perceptions, emotions, and connection to nature). At 6 pm, at the Arboretum Stone Circle, don't miss the free concert from Frost School of Music artist Maeve McMahon, and UM alum Keith Johns.

With the FIFA World Cup 2026™ coming to Miami this summer, the University of Miami Office of Sustainability wants to invite you to reflect on the progress made by the soccer industry on climate resilience and sustainability. Sports venues have been mitigating their impacts on natural resources. In many instances, soccer stadiums have become a tool to adapt to a changing climate with more stresses on water resources, more natural disasters and extreme conditions, especially in coastal regions like South-East Florida. Join us and learn from a fantastic panel of experts moderated by Jennifer Roche - Director of Community & Legacy for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee: Kash Siddiqi - Football for Peace; Jenna DiPaolo - Ocean Conservancy / Protect Where We Play; Dr. Todd Crowl – Florida International University (Click here for bios).

What best way to end Earth Day with the screening of the 2024 documentary "With or Without - A Coral Story"! Join us on April 22 at 6 pm at the Coral Gables Art Cinema (map). A panel discussion will follow the screening: Allyson DeMerlis, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Benthic Ecology and Coral Restoration Lab of the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science She will introduce the UM Rosenstiel School's coral conservation program, Rescue a Reef.

On April 18, ECO Agency will be planting a native butterfly garden next to the entrance of the Cox Science building. This planting is made possible thanks to a collaboration with the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden's restoration program, the Native Plant Network. The Lorax by Dr. Seuss is a cautionary fable about environmental destruction caused by greed.
